LOOKOUT

This project is an example of the organic development of an object from a small idea to a large-scale concept. The task was to design an observation deck in the vicinity of the city of Adelaide on a free flat area intended for picnics and recreation for citizens.

The almost untouched natural environment with rocky ravines inspired us to create an organic and resilient design - the observation deck turned into a whole organism that settled on the mountain plateau.

We have dramatized our stay here and turned it into a story, the movement of visitors begins with the existing parking lot and a series of observation platforms hanging over the abyss, oriented towards the panorama of the city and mountains; the scale of the overhang increases in accordance with the movement in depth.

In the middle of the route, visitors have the choice to go to the largest cantilevered observation deck, oriented to the mountain landscape, which runs around in the crowns of trees and ends with a lower level with a seating area and hanging swings, where the whole city is at a glance, or turn to the climactic loop - this the highest point of the complex where the prospect of the whole city opens up.

The climax is supported by an open amphitheater under the loop and a stage that is located near the stairs.
